Il Pantanal è un'immensa regione ricca di fiumi e paludi, con una superficie pari a circa la metà di quella del Regno Unito. È il luogo migliore al mondo per osservare i giaguari in natura.
The Pantanal is an immense region rich in rivers and marshes, with an area about the half of the United Kingdom . It is the best place in the world to see jaguars in the wild.
Il giaguaro (Panthera onca) può superare i 2,5 m di lunghezza, compresa la coda, e pesare oltre 150 kg.

Nel Pantanal i giaguari sono generalmente molto grossi, con dimensioni superiori alla media.
The jaguar (Panthera onca) can exceed 2.5 m in length, including the tail, and weigh over 150 kg.
In the Pantanal jaguars are generally very large, above the average dimensions.
Il Pantanal è un vero e proprio eden naturalistico. Oltre a essere il regno dei giaguari, ospita molte altre specie di mammiferi, pesci, insetti, anfibi, rettili e innumerevoli specie di uccelli.
The Pantanal is a real naturalistic Eden. In addition to being the kingdom of the jaguars, it is home to many other species of mammals, fish, insects, amphibians, reptiles and countless bird species.
Il giaguaro è il terzo felino più grande al Mondo, dopo la tigre e il leone. È un animale molto adattabile e presenta un areale di distribuzione che si estende dal sud dell’Arizona al nord dell’Argentina.
The jaguar is the third largest feline in the world, after the tiger and the lion. It is a very adaptable animal and has a distribution area that extends from the south of Arizona to the north of Argentina.
I giaguari sono ottimi nuotatori e nel Pantanal cacciano abitualmente i caimani, attaccandoli quando si riscaldano al sole e inseguendoli anche nell’acqua.
Jaguars are excellent swimmers. In the Pantanal they usually hunt caimans, attacking them when they warm up in the sun and also chasing them in the water.

Il giaguaro è un felino molto potente e il suo morso è uno dei più temibili del regno animale.
The jaguar is a very powerful big cat and its bite is one of the most formidable in the animal kingdom.
Durante la stagione secca la vegetazione è meno densa e questo facilita gli avvistamenti dei felini, che trascorrono più tempo nei
pressi dei fiumi, dove tendono a concentrarsi le prede.
During the dry season the vegetation is less dense and this facilitates the sightings of the felines, who spend more time the near rivers, where prey tend to concentrate.
In molte aree il giaguaro è in pericolo e il suo numero in forte diminuzione, a causa del bracconaggio e della riduzione dell’habitat, causata prevalentemente dalla pressione antropica.
In many areas the jaguar is in danger and its number is decreasing fastly, due to poaching and habitat reduction, mainly caused by anthropogenic pressure.
